BSMSA Level 2 Certificate in Audio Transcription Course


Aimed at:
  • existing NHS/private practice staff
  • return workers
  • mature students
  • anyone considering a career as a medical secretary or administrator. 

This course content is in line with the City and Guilds level 2 AMSPAR Certificate syllabus and can be placed toward the full medical administration courses audio unit. 

Course content: Consists of 2 parts to be studied over 2 months (based on around 3 hours study a week)

The course comprises of 16 transcriptions and access to a foot pedal for the full audio experience. We do recommend software to use.
The course is run over 2 months with assignment based tasks.

Course objectives: Accurate transcription deliverance with speed. Correct understanding of request for a standardised letter, document and memo formats.

Course assessment and delivery:

  • Available online through Audio software, giving real audio experience 
  • Full individual tutorial support – each student is allocated a mentor, providing information and advice on study skills, guidance and support
  • Syllabus specific dictations
  • All work mentor marked
Final assessment: Once all units and mock tasks have been completed, a final exam assignment will be undertaken. This will cover all unit contents and will be a mentor marked final assessment and evaluation. This is done virtually in a timed environment.

Course to be completed within 4 months maximum or further charges will be incurred

Please note:
You will require a USB foot pedal for this course. If you do not have access to one you can hire one from the BSMSA. The cost of this is £45.00. You will get £35 refunded when the foot pedal is returned.

You will need to have good medical terminology knowledge to be able to complete this course as it is medical audio transcription.
