Aimed at existing NHS/private practice staff, return workers, mature students and anyone considering a career as a medical secretary or administrator. This course content is in line with the City and Guilds level 3 AMSPAR Certificate syllabus and can be placed towards these units within the full medical administration courses.  

Course content: Audio

Word Processing: Consists of 2 parts - Theory and tasks to be studied over 3 months (based on around 3 hours study a week) The course is run over 3 months with 11 mentor marked assignment based tasks.
Audio: Consists of 100% exercise tasks to be studied over 2 months (based on around 3 hours study a week) Course comprises of live access to widely used Audio software within the NHS with real transcriptions. The course is run over 2 months with assignment based tasks split into 4 units.
Course objectives:

To give full understanding and skills relating to word processing in an office and specifically a medical environment with the Audio unit teaching accurate transcription deliverance with speed. Correct understanding of request for both standardised letter, documents formats and memos.

Course assessment and delivery:

The audio unit is delivered using a recommended software with foot pedal to give full audio experience.

Course Content: Word Processing

The Word processing unit is delivered electronically direct from your mentor.

Full individual tutorial support – each student will be allocated a mentor who will provide information and advice on study skills, guidance and support
Self-assessment tests
Mentor-marked end of module assignments
Both courses to be completed within 6 months maximum or further charges will be incurred

Final assessments:

Once all units and assignments have been completed, a mock paper will be completed prior to the student moving onto the final timed assignment exam for each course.

You will require a USB foot pedal for this course. If you do not have access to one you can hire one from the BSMSA. The cost of this is £45.00. You will get £35 refunded when the foot pedal is returned.
The software we use for the Audio unit is not compatible with Apple Mac
You will need to have good medical terminology knowledge to complete both of these courses.
